You have made an important step
Visiting Univa today is an important step. It means you’ve recognised that you deserve support and a life beyond your eating disorder. You might just be starting to notice changes in your relationship with food, or you may have been living with anorexia or another eating disorder for some time. Perhaps you’ve realised how much it’s held you back - from avoiding simple moments like going out for dinner with family and friends to pursuing the things that once mattered most to you.
Whatever your journey so far, know that you’re not alone. You’ve taken a courageous first step, and that’s where recovery truly begins.
Support for you and someone who supports you
Univa provides support that brings you and a parent, trusted adult, partner, or carer together in your recovery. You take part in sessions and digital support as a team so you build shared understanding, confidence and practical skills that help you make meaningful progress.
Our services are for children, teenagers and young adults who experience anorexia or restrictive eating behaviours linked to weight loss, even without a formal diagnosis. You can choose the trusted adult person who joins you, and we help both of you take the next steps toward recovery.
No matter how you start, Univa gives you and your parent, partner or carer the flexibility to receive the right level of support at the right time in a way that fits your life.
App-only support: Univa Essentials & Univa Comfort
Who it’s for
For anyone experiencing anorexia, restrictive eating, or ongoing struggles with food and body image - and whose family or carer wants to be part of their recovery journey.
With Univa, you and your family or carer each have your own connected app. This unique dual-app design means both of you are supported through tailored, evidence-based programmes that work hand in hand.
What you get
Univa Essentials
(App-only)
Everything you need to feel more confident, supported, and equipped - all in one easy-to-use app.
For you:
Over 20 weeks, you’ll follow a guided pathway designed to help you understand and address your eating disorder. You’ll learn how to manage unhelpful thoughts, strengthen self-esteem, improve body image, and rebuild a positive relationship with food. The modules also support you in exploring who you are beyond the eating disorder — helping you rediscover confidence, motivation, and hope for recovery.
For your family or carer:
Your parent or carer will work through their own 20-week programme based on leading family approaches such as the New Maudsley and Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN). They’ll gain practical tools for meal support, communication, and relapse prevention, alongside self-care strategies to help them manage their own stress and emotions. This shared journey helps both of you feel more supported, connected, and equipped to work toward recovery together.
Together:
Both apps stay connected, helping you and your family share a common understanding, language, and approach to recovery. You’ll also have access to videos from clinicians and people with lived experience, plus a virtual avatar support team available 24/7 to answer questions and guide you whenever needed.
Univa helps you and those who care about you move forward together - building understanding, confidence, and hope for recovery, step by step.

Univa Therapy
Family therapy with specialist support for you and your loved ones
Family Therapy is a special form of treatment that involves your family members or carers as an active part of the recovery process. At Univa, therapy is designed to help everyone understand the eating disorder, improve communication, and work together toward lasting recovery.
Univa Therapy gives you access to 50-minute online sessions with experienced eating disorder specialists - psychologists, therapists, or mental health nurses - who tailor each session to your individual needs and your family’s situation. Therapy can also run alongside your NHS care, and with your consent, we can share summaries to ensure joined-up support.
You can book sessions on a pay-as-you-go basis and combine them with a monthly plan that includes guided self-care modules, unlimited clinical messaging, and regular goal check-ins - giving you ongoing guidance and peace of mind between sessions.
What to expect
Receive compassionate, evidence-based care in 50-minute online sessions with a specialist clinician who are psychologists, mental health nurses and therapists. Sessions are adapted to your needs with your family input too. If appropriate, your therapist may ask you to have some therapy sessions with just you to get a better understanding of your needs.
Your first session focuses on understanding your goals, challenges, and support needs as well as helping your family understand their role in your recovery. This structured assessment and formulation helps shape a personalised plan for your recovery and your family's caregiving journey.
The number of sessions will depend on the needs identified, challenges you're facing and your recovery goals.
Univa offers something truly unique - therapy that continues beyond the session through our integrated self-care apps for both you and your parents or carers. Your therapist can assign tailored digital modules in the app between sessions for you and your parents or carers - reinforcing skills for recovery, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention
Add the Univa Carer App for £49/month (≈£1.60/day) to reinforce what you learn, practise new skills between sessions, and reflect on what’s working, keeping momentum strong and progress visible.
At Univa, therapy doesn’t end when the call finishes - it continues every day through connected, compassionate care that helps you and your family move forward together.
